Speak Story Tackles African and African American Stories


Charlotte Blake Alston

The popular Shepherd University lecture series Speak Story will present nationally recognized storyteller, Charlotte Blake Alston for an evening of story telling. Alston breathes life into traditional & contemporary African and African American oral and cultural traditions. She has appeared at the Smithsonian Institution, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Storytelling Festival and the National Festival of Black Storytelling. Internationally, Charlotte has performed in Ghana, South Africa, China, Switzerland and Ireland.

Speak Story will host Alston at the Storer Ballroom, 3rd floor of Shepherd University Student Center 210 N King St.,

Shepherdstown, WV on Tuesday June 13, at 7:30 pm. Admission is $12 at the door; express entry for Speak membership cardholders. Free to Shepherd University students.
